Not being someone who ever rents cars, I got the insurance. I questioned her further to get clarification and she kept saying that over and over as if my insurance would be useless in the event of an accident or damage. She then said "Budget does not deal with 3rd party insurance companies". Agent offered me their insurance protection I declined and said I have it through my credit card.

I recently had a bad experience with the Budget at BWI and have come to the conclusion they have shady business practices all around and are not to be trusted.Ĭustomer service rude and deceptive. Like you I have no intention of using budget in the future. While the may see an increase in profits in the short term, I predict they will lose many customers in the long term. Budget really needs to re-think this strategy. What really got me is that like you I was rims thR it was a standard charge and even if I had filled up that the charge would appear unless I showed a receipt.

I even read the sign as I exited (which was very unclear) that seemed to confirm that you did not have to fill up for driving 75 miles or less. When I returned the car the next day and inquired about the refueling charge and explained that the employee never explained that there was a price difference. While I did not suffer a huge impact to my wallet, there is something unsettling a about this practice of misleading the customer. All the employee said was yes (no mention of a $13.99 fee). I was so surprised to hear this that I even repeated this back to the employee to make sure that I heard correctly. So I guess I should have been as diligent in asking questions when the employee instructucted me that I did not have to fill the car up if I drove 75 miles or less.

I was a little put by this tactic because it has been my experience in renting a car that when offering the upgrade the price differential us usually provided w/o prompting from the customer. At first, I say yes and then I ask if there is an additional charge (of course there was). After standing in a long line I get to the counter where the budget employee asks me would I like to try the new fusion. I have cancelled two Budget SUV rentals for early 2011 and will NOT be using this VERY Non-Customer Friendly rental car company in the future! Renter - Beware ! I have been told by Budget Customer Service, escalated to supervisor level, that this is the Budget fee structure and that there is NO consideration for unforeseen weather related travel changes, nor any consideration for having rented with Budget for the past 25 years. Budget responded by charging me an additional $867.76 (1 extra day + a drop-off fee) for a total rental charge of $1,202.27. I dropped off the SUV at the Pittsburgh airport location the evening of 12/27 (1 additional day). particularly interesting as the SUV rental was booked on line at ). I attempted a minimum of 12 times to contact the Budget office at BWI by phone between the afternoon or 12/26 and throughout the day on 12/27 (this action was based on a conversation with 1-800 Budget Corporate Customer Service, who stated they were not able to assist me with changing the reservation and must call original Budget office. I was able to book flights for my family from Pittsburgh, PA on SWA with no change fees incurred.

As a health-care professional scheduled to work from 12/27 - 12/31, I needed to return home as quickly as possible. I was not able to book a flight home from BWI until Wednesday evening 12/29. Due to winter storms on the east coast my return SWA flight from BWI on 12/26 was cancelled and the BWI airport was closed to air traffic. I rented an SUV for the Christmas Holiday from Budget Rent-A-Car at the Baltimore (BWI) airport location on the evening of.
